What is cannabis sex?


Cannabis plants can be either male or female, and in some cases, hermaphroditic (having both male and female reproductive organs). Knowing the sex of a cannabis plant is crucial, as it helps growers identify and separate male plants, which do not produce the desired flowers (buds), from female plants that are responsible for producing the resinous flowers rich in cannabinoids.

Cannabis sexing is typically performed 4-6 weeks from germination. Growers inspect the plants for the presence of male or female characteristics.
